About me

"What we do does not define who we are. What defines us is how well we rise after falling."
                                                                                               -Bob Hoskins

Raised overseas from Italy to Japan until 2014, I was immersed in a variety of cultures and languages that shaped how I view the world and interact with people. Living abroad taught me the importance of empathy, adaptability, and curiosity—values that have guided every step of my academic and professional journey. When I later joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, I discovered how deeply medicine and service resonated with me. Working alongside providers and caring for patients solidified my sense of purpose in the healthcare field and deepened my curiosity about pursuing a career in healthcare.

After transferring from Meredith College in 2022 from a major in Biology, I wanted to challenge myself, so I entered the University of Central Florida, where I’m currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology. I’ve continued to build on that foundation through both coursework and hands-on experience. From medical scribing in the emergency room, working as a Pharmacy Technician, and as a Corpsman. I’ve witnessed the urgency of care and the power of communication between patients and providers. Classes like anatomy, physiology, and biology strengthened my understanding. However, minoring in psychology revealed the importance of mental and emotional health in medicine and showed me a different aspect of healthcare.

Exploring different fields helped me realize that my passion lies in connecting with people—listening, understanding, and helping them heal both physically and mentally. Though my journey has not been linear, every step—from my military training to my university education—has helped me grow into a more compassionate, well-rounded future healthcare professional. My experiences have shown me that medicine is not just about science, but it’s a form of service that begins with understanding a person.

This quote has resonated with me throughout my journey because it represents adversity as a quality not to fear, but to grow stronger in. It is a quality that will shape character and resiliency. Every challenge I’ve faced, from adapting to life overseas to overcoming academic and personal obstacles, has taught me the importance of perseverance and growth. It’s through those moments of falling and getting back up that I’ve recognized the kind of person I strive to be—someone who learns, adapts, and never stops moving forward.
